I met so many WONDERFUL people!!!

I had to work then drive in (from Huntsville), so all the hot food was gone by the time I got there, I hear it was wonderful......

For the powers that be, THANK YOU!!!!!!! What a hit, can we do 4 hours next year instead of 3?????

I'm he girl that brought her 'OLD' pants for those of you that don't have a clue who I am.

I talked with so many people, I especially enjoyed sharing with those that are about to embark on you new life, your new and wonderful life. There will be changes on a daily basis, you won't know the person in the mirror, and your brain will have a hard time keeping up with the "loser" that you will become.

So welcome to the "losers" club, it's a GREAT place to be.

Saw lovely Dr Houston today and got my first fill. I am offically at
1. Got this lovely shot of my stomach and band to put on the tree.
Party of the money for my band was my christmas gift. I just hate not
to be able to eat at all the Christmas parties but that is what got me
where I am today. A new life begins again. No pain and only one
stick. Now I am ready for the next step. Sticking to the rules for
liquids tonight at Company Christmas party. Dr Houston said sip a
Martini but I said no way. Anyone have suggestions?

You're not quite the youngest Ms. Spencer...I think

I was reading all the post, and realized I was asked to give a few
details about myself.....oooppps
I really am slow at responding.
I researched for 3 years before making my life better. My parents told
me I wasn't allowed to have the surgery done............I WAS 43 YEARS
OLD....HA!!!
MY PARENTS weren't allowed to be at the hospital during my surgery, I
surrounded myself with positive people .
My daughter was 12 at the time, I let her skip school, and my sister
drove me up the night before. I had the VIP hospital room, and had I not
had bad reactions to my meds I would have loved it..... I met another
person that day having the surgery, and we have become long distance
friends. Christa and John visited my room everyday, and we have shared
several holidays over the last 3 years. I cried the entire way home on
my 3 month check up because I hadn't lost enough weight, at least that
is what Dr. Olsen said. I had to have a hysterectomy 3 months to the day
after gastric bypass, also threw in a insicisional hernia surgery from
my c-section 12 years earlier, serious stuff.......
This past July, my insurance paid to have the skin removed from my
tummy. I have no body fat, well a little, but I will not have to have
any lipo done anywhere.... I hope to save enough to have my arms and
thighs done over the next 2 years. ( I love my new belly button).....hee
hee hee
I've lost 188 pounds/ 16 sizes / and at last count 124
inches................
Thanks for asking, this is the most positive thing in my life!!!

I'm happy to say that I had lost five lbs, since I saw the Dr. two
weeks ago. On the other hand I was sad that I had only lost 5 lbs. in
two weeks. Is that the norm, when you are three 1/2 months out?
We also met Kathleen H. & Cheryl R. they are two of the sweetest,
kindest and beautiful ladies you would ever want to meet.

Happy Holidays! I'm new to the group. Had a lap DS 4 1/2 yrs ago. I was the one on Discovery Health channel and TLC's the shrinking woman...I wanted to ask if any of you on this group are struggling with nutritional deficiencies? My best friend in NJ,and another friend of mine in Ohio are having pancreatic issues..too much insulin being produced..also is anyone else suffering from any numbnees and tingling in their bodies following surgery? I have struggled with my labs for the last two years, and Dr Mark Smith has me taking a product called bioboost...it was designed specifically for wls patients and has helped me alot with digestion. WOWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEE are we a bunch of

interesting and I had to look at name tags. Kinda embarrassing to
look at their faces and not know who they were so you immediately

this group. Yes, I do have to say you guys have guts but I think

it will be the highlight of the evening! I really debated about going

but with all the activity on this group and the positive energy flow

I felt like I wanted be a part of it. I try to go to Dr. Frye's groups whenever

I can and I feel that the sharing with those who have been through

the same things is an important part of this surgery. NO ONE ELSE

can understand the small thrills of doing something you haven't been

able to do in years.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Good Evening to all
Is anyone going to be at Dr. Olsen office on Thursday morning around
the 10 o'clock hour? My husband is having his consult with Dr. O. Then
he will be going across the street to CMC for his labs. His surgery is
scheduled for 8:30 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 19. He is excited and nerveous
at the same time. Please keep him in your prayers. Also ladies you
might want to send one up for me also, as we all know men do not deal
with pain as well as we do. Ha.
We are looking forward to meeting and making many new friends on Friday
night.

confidence thing. I would never in a million years
volunteered to be a cheerleader before losing weight,
and I've only lost 62 lbs, but the boost in my

Hi Jill, Thank you for your response. I am doing so much better now, I quit the eggs for breakfast and am doing fine no more nausea or dry heaves. YAAAAYYY. I will try the Egg Beaters or something like that when I am brave enough to give them another try. Cathy suggested cottage cheese & sugar free jello for something different and that works pretty good. Hope yfellow Losers all have a wonderful time and hope somebody will take & post pictures. Thank you for your prayers.

Hi -
I read these posts daily but have hardly ever posted. I am almost 3
years out (January 20, 2004) and have never attended the patient
Christmas party. From my reading the last month though, I decided
that I really want to go this year and finally booked a motel room and
just now RSVP'd. I am going to be by myself so am a little nervous
but everyone sounds so nice and especially FUN!
I look forward to meeting everyone and can't wait to see
the "performance!"

That's still a GREAT loss! If you maintain 177, you're still healthier than you used to be, right?

Try keeping a food diary for 3-5 days... then see where you can shave 200 calories off. You MIGHT find that you've crept over 800 calories. It's really easy to do... I KNOW! Keep us posted.

Hi Donna,
I am very sorry to hear about what is happening with the dreaded "D"
etc. I, too, had a hard time keeping things down at in the beginning
and ended up having 4 EDGs at various times. I would eat and then
food would get stuck and I'd be in my favorite room of the house...if
ya know what I mean. Since I live in Illinois, the first time I did
fly to Nashville and Dr. Houston admitted me as I was dehydrated. I
was in overnight. The EDGs are a piece of cake...oops shouldn't say
that word...but they do put you to sleep. As I said I had 4 from
June thru Sept. Dr. Houston said he's never had a patient need
4....well, aren't I the lucky one!!!
I hope things go better for you...keep posting, keep asking
questions....we'll see you at the 2007 Christmas party. I remember
how tight $$$ was for me as I raised 3 boys from the ages of 9, 6 &
3...that was stressful to say the least.
I'll be praying for you!

I was sooooo pleased to hear about your son getting to call you...God
will give you the strength to get thru the visit with him. I, too, had
a similar situation with my youngest son. I visited him regularly and
found strength I sincerely didn't think I had.
Now about the double take....isn't that the best WOWWWWWWWWWWWWW moment
a girl could have. In fact, it's a WOWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEE moment.
Take care of yourself. Too often when things like this happen we
forget to continue to focus on ourself and the 'mission' we are
on....it's important to take care of Laura!!! Then you'll be able to
take care of other things which come up in your life.

I was out running some erands today and a freind of my kids passed by
in the store soped turned around and then looked again . She tols me
she did not recgonise me !!! She had not really seen me in about 2
months and on top of the weight loss I cut over 6" off my hair this
weekend ... I am really Lighter all over !!!
On a good note too my son earned a phone call so I got to talk with
him today :) we are going to be able to see him tomarrow wish me luck
I want to visit with him not cry all the way through it

Just to share with you I am 6 foot. My older brother
is 6'4" my younger brother was 6'9" believe it or not
they used to call me shortie. Our dad was a tall man
also. Our mom was 5'9 she has shrunk over the years.
But she is a sweetheart. She lives with us. She has
alzheimers and parkinson diease. So I would appreciate
it if you and everyone else would keep her in your
prayers.

Cathy, I am not offended at all....if you'd hear my voice, you might
not tell me when and where we'll be singing the 12 days of WLS!!!

I wish I could think of the name of the hotel we stayed in when I had
my surgery. It was right off of the interstate and a block from the
hospital.....I believe it was around $75 a night and it was pretty
nice. I'll ask my friend if she remembers as she stayed with me
throughout my surgery.
My friend, Carolyn, will be there too. She had Dr. Dyer. I met her
by posting prior to our surgeries. She had her surgery the day
before I did and we've become wonderful friends....sisters of the
heart!!!
I will anxious wait to hear how your 'hotel hunt' turns out.

maybe 5'1". When my son was little (3 yrs or so) he asked me when was

Please don't hesitate to post. This is everybody's group. And don't
ever feel silly, etc. I recall attending a group session w/Dr. Frye.
Someone came into the meeting who probably would have been more
comfortable in a larger chair - another patient offered the larger
chair and patient #1 declined. Dr. Frye used that as an example for
all of us saying that as obese people we often "settle" and become
passive so as to not stir things up. She strongly encouraged us not
to settle any longer. So jump right in posting. That's how we all get
to know each other more. And you're right, this is a great source of
support, encoragement, etc. We've all either been there, are there
now, or will be there at some point in this journey. People who have
not had WLS simply cannot imagine all of the different emotions, etc
that we deal with. I can't imagine WLS patients who had this say 10-
20 yrs ago and didn't have the means of a internet support group, can
you? I'm sooo thankful!!!

Good idea Jill...I woke up this morning with new resolve so all things are possible.

I think I will try priceline. I don't like to drive at night but surely I can go from one

hotel to another. Its not like I don't know my way around Nashville now. Holiday Inn

has some rooms but at $129.00. I thought the $79.00 was a lot LOL. I usually go

thru priceline and get something for around 50.00 so we will see.
